BIRRIFICIO BALADIN

The Baladin farmhouse brewery was originally founded in 1996 as a brewpub (production and bar) in Piozzo, a small village in the Langhe area of the province of Cuneo, by its founder and master brewer Teo Musso. In the course of its evolution, it has moved several times, according to the changes in its production needs: from a few square metres stolen from the pub, to a larger space in Teo's parents' chicken coop, to the current modern and spacious facility in the Baladin Open Garden. All of the brewery's locations have one thing in common: the production area is an open space that welcomes people and tells a story.

BIONDI SANTI

It is a rare phenomenon that a wine can trace its origins back to a single man. Brunello di Montalcino, however, owes its existence to the creative genius of Clemente Santi and his nephew Ferruccio Biondi Santi, who, in the 18th century, began producing single-varietal barrel-aged wines in Montalcino, betting on the extraordinary quality potential of Sangiovese grosso. Since 1888, the first vintage of Brunello in history, Biondi-Santi has continued to produce wines renowned for their elegance and exceptional longevity.

BOEKENHOUTSKLOOF

Boekenhoutskloof was established in 1776. Situated in the far corner of the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, the name of the farm means 'Gorge of the Boekenhout' (pronounced Book-n-Howed). Boekenhout is an indigenous Cape beech tree that is highly prized for furniture making.

Boekenhoutskloof is the magical little wine farm where they raise the bar when it comes to creating some of South Africa's finest wines.

The fertile Franschhoek Wine Valley is home to some of South Africa's finest varieties and classic styles. These range from superb whites such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon and Chenin Blanc to full-bodied reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Merlot.

As a producer, Boekenhoutskloof is a Syrah specialist, with its premium Boekenhoutskloof range selling out on release each vintage, and The Chocolate Block – a Syrah based blend – is probably the most successful new wine offering to come out of South Africa in the modern era. The Porcupine Ridge range of delicious, everyday wines is a firm favourite on tables throughout the world – offering great value and superb drinking.

CA DEI FRATI

Ca 'dei Frati has been known since 1782, as attested by a document that refers to "a house with a cellar located in Lugana in the keep of Sermion called the place of the Friars".

In 1939, Felice Dal Cero, son of Domenico, already a winemaker in Montecchia di Crosara in the Verona area, moved to this house in Lugana di Sirmione and immediately felt the great wine vocation of the area. In 1969, after thirty years of work in the vineyard and in the cellar, his son Pietro took part in the birth of the Doc and started bottling his first Lugana under the Casa dei Frati label, later called Ca 'dei Frati. In 2012 Pietro Dal Cero passed away, leaving his cultural legacy to his wife Santa Rosa and his sons Igino, Gian Franco and Anna Maria, who continue to run the company with the same passion and determination. The grapes from each vineyard are vinified separately in order to obtain the best expression of their "terroir". The winemaking process is carried out with the greatest respect for the raw material, using an innovative technique that has been refined over the years and that allows us to obtain wines that are intact and long-lasting.

CA DEL BOSCO

Ca ’del Bosco stands for listening to Nature, for giving it a chance to express itself in every form with the help of man, who acts as the custodian of an extraordinary legacy – using the land without using it up. The Ca’ del Bosco Method results in products that find their identity only through an investment in the land that yields them, leading naturally to the adoption of organic viticulture.

Ca' del Bosco is a sparkling wine producer in the Franciacorta DOCG of Lombardy. It is regarded as one of Italy's very best sparkling wine houses, and makes a wide range of wines made in the metodo classico (or méthode traditionnelle) style.

Ca' del Bosco was founded when Annamaria Clementi moved to Erbusco, bought a small hillside house called Ca'del Bosc with 2ha (5 acres) of land and planted vines. The first wine was produced in 1972. The estate was developed and grown by her son, Maurizio Zanella; while it is now part of the Marzotto family's Gruppo Zignano, Maurizio Zignano chairs that company and Ca' del Bosco continues to be managed independently.

CHARLES HEIDSIECK

Charles Heidsieck is a prestigious producer based in Champagne. Its house style is structured and creamy, with a high proportion of reserve wine used in the Brut NV. Charles Heidsieck uses the three main Champagne grapes; Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, in the wines, and the grapes of which are now sourced from more than 200 growers throughout Champagne. The house began in 1851 when its eponymous founder – the original "Champagne Charlie" – went into business for himself. Rather than investing in vineyards, Heidsieck invested in underground chalk cellars based in the center of Reims. The cellars, which are still part of the house today, are 60 feet (18m) below ground and have a constant temperature and humidity – they have been used to age wines for nearly 150 years. Today, Champagne Charles Heidsieck is a premium producer of sparkling wines. The house produces both classic brut and rosé non-vintage wines, both of which are aged for three years, around 20 months longer than is legally required for non-vintage champagnes.

ERRAZURIZ

Viña Errazuriz is a Chilean winery founded in 1870 in the Aconcagua Valley by Don Maximiano Errazuriz, who travelled on horseback beyond the established vineyards near Santiago to find the best possible terroir. At the time of the first release in 1873, the estate had over 300 hectares (740 acres) of vineyards. By 1890 this had risen to 700 hectares (1730 acres), making Errazuriz the largest single vineyard in the world.

The estate has seven vineyards in the warmer areas of the valley, planted mainly with Bordeaux varieties and Syrah with some Viognier. It also owns the Costa Estate in the coastal region of Aconcagua, about 7.5 miles (12km) from the Pacific Ocean, where Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are also grown. There are several wineries - the original winery in Panquehue, built in 1870, is still in use (albeit more as a cellar door), and in 2010 the company opened the Don Maximiano Icon Winery, dedicated to the production of high-end wines.
